MEET JOHN
John and his wife, Rachelle, reside on a ranch just South of Lockhart. They were fortunate to find the property in late 2000 when they relocated to central Texas from Houston. John always wanted to own rural property on the outskirts of a metropolitan area which to raise a family. On his way to Port O’Connor for a fishing trip, John noticed the newly renovated Caldwell County courthouse and the pretty rolling ranch lands surrounding it. The following week he signed the contract on a piece of land that would change their lives.
Raised in Hurst, a small community between Dallas and Ft. Worth, John grew up building model planes and restoring a classic Mustang which he still owns today. During high school he worked at his family’s hardware store and played drums in the school band. John graduated from Texas A&M University and earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. While at A&M he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. Also during his tenure there, he was selected as the Band Commander and a member of the Ross Volunteer Company.
Post graduation, John started with a Houston commercial contractor, Maxwell Company, as a Project Superintendent. Four years later the company merged to create SpawMaxwell and John was tasked with developing their first branch office in Austin. After seven years, the branch was up to $40 mil in sales and responsible for 38 employees. In 2007 John left the company and started his own firm, Sabre Commercial Inc. In addition to politics and running a business; John also dedicates his resources to several non-profit organizations in the community.
